Pet sitting in Henley-on-Thames
We love travelling to new places while pet sitting, so we were delighted to have the opportunity to explore beautiful Henley-on-Thames with Eden the hamster and sweet Norfolk Terrier, Cody! This sweet, cheeky boy loved showing us around his hometown during our stays with him, as we spent our days walking along the river where the famous Henley Regatta is held. From florists with decadent flowers spilling out of the windows, to characterful houses tucked away in quiet side streets, everything has a touch of royalty and we were pleased that we were able to see it all with Cody by our sides.
We’d often visit dog-friendly cafes in Henley-on-Thames to rest our feet from our walkies into town. Cody’s smaller size meant he received a lot of fuss from other customers, and everyone thought he was a puppy even when he’d just turned four years old! We like to say he still had puppy energy though, as he’d happily walk for hours with us. We’d often visit Culham Park, a short walk from Cody’s home, which became one of our favourite local walks at this house sit. The park was always so peaceful and it’s full of beautiful sculptures and flowers to admire. While Cody would never chase after any animal, he loved to sit and watch the resident herd of deer as we made our way through the park.
Back at home, Cody enjoyed a deep snooze to rest his little legs after our walkies. He’d often crash out on the kitchen floor, too tired to even jump up onto the sofa! He was our little shadow around the house, always following us and wanting to be involved in whatever we were doing that day. During one Springtime pet sit together, we set up an Easter egg hunt for Cody around the garden and happily watched as he snuffled out his treats one by one. In the evenings, Eden the hamster would wake up and we’d get to play with him while Cody was snoozing. They were a really special pair, and we loved our stays with them!
